Dirk MARGOTTE has been one of the most innovative eyewear manufacturers in Germany for more than 19 years.

It all started in 2002 with an idea to make glasses from a single piece of high-quality stainless steel. Without soldering or laser points, simply without weak points. After many attempts, the first prototype was presented in 2004. With the collaboration of a designer, the first shapes were drawn. It was very helpful that the qualified designer was also a trained optician. The technical understanding of production is crucial for a perfect interaction between design idea and production.

The family's know-how was used to process the surface to the perfect colored surface. Dirk Margotte comes from a family of chemists who had accumulated knowledge about surface finishing over the generations up to their clock grandfather. At Margotte, the latest technologies are always incorporated into the manufacturing process, which not only increases the quality of the glasses, but also makes a significant contribution to sustainability and environmental compatibility. We take back every pair of glasses ever built by MARGOTTE and put them back into the manufacturing process. This means a saving of all energy components for 50% of production. This sustainability is unique in the eyewear industry.

We have been selling our models in Germany since 2005. With successful participation in national and international trade fairs in France, Spain, China and Taiwan, MARGOTTE was also able to establish itself internationally with reliability and the highest quality. In addition to Germany, we sell our glasses with strategic sales partners (distributors) in Austria, Switzerland, the Netherlands, Belgium, England and France. Since 2013, in addition to mainland China, we have also been an integral part of the markets in Hong Kong, Taiwan, Macao, Thailand and Singapore.

In 2016 we collaborated with the Berlin label FRAMERS. FRAMERS is committed to the sustainable material cellulose acetate and has been firmly integrated into Margotte GmbH since 2022.

Since 2019 there have been repeated collaborations with various artists. We started with DORO PESCH. The musician can look back on a career spanning over 30 years in a music world dominated by men. Highly respected and popular, she is rightly called the Queen of Metal. She designed sunglasses for women (DORO) and one for men (Warrior)

Afterwards, more and more collaborations arose, including with the Düsseldorf industrial rock/metal band Krupps, which also graces the album Cover Vision 2020.
